Foothills British Car Club tour of Fine Line Auto Works 2018

The small, 2-car / 3-person contingent from the BBCWNC met at the Flat Rock (I-26) Cracker Barrel at 8:30am on Saturday (23 June) and departed on-time at 8:45am for Forest City. We arrived fashionably early at Fine Line Auto Works (9:30am, instead of the targeted start time of 10:00am) and were promptly greeted by Denny, his wife Suzanne, and his two technicians — Keith and Bill. Good bunch of people! A few other early-birds were at the shop, so we all started to take private tours and do individual inspections of the 10-12 cars that ‘Denny and Crew’ were working on. Impressive workmanship! Running fashionably late (10:30am), the bulk of the FBCC club arrived en masse and filled-up the center aisle of Denny’s shop. FBCC President David Benson welcomed everyone and Denny then proceeded to give the group of 40+ tour-takers a thorough and detailed explanation of how to do a proper restoration — project planning, the quotation process, cataloguing of parts, documentation of the process, metal prep, metal working, wood working (Denny makes his own dashboards!), painting, interior and upholstery ‚Ķ from bumper to bumper. It was quite the education!
