Friday, October 18, 2019 was an outstanding fall day for this event with cool morning temperatures and plenty of sunshine.  We started with a back roads drive from the Folk Art Center to downtown Burnsville with lunch at the Garden Deli.  As we turned left off US Hwy 19E onto Main St. in Burnsville, we passed an outdoor art project featuring a 22-foot-tall solar “telescope” with hand-blown glass bulbs.  Please see this link for more details:
Follow the Light
After lunch, our drive headed south to the Blue Ridge Parkway and on to Mt. Mitchell.  Clear skies made for beautiful mountain views in all directions from the top of Mt. Mitchell.
