Progressive Drive

The BCCWNC progressive drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway was once again a success as 17 cars gathered in the parking lot of K-Mart to participate. The progressive drive allows the rider the opportunity to jump from car to car as the group progresses along the Parkway. This gave us the opportunity to ride in the LBC we have always wanted to, but it also gave us the chance to meet or get to know better other members of the club.

We began the drive under a slightly threatening sky as the riders choose their first LBC of the day. Our route took us down 191 with a quick jump onto the Parkway and then to the Pisgah Inn for lunch. We all enjoyed lunch while watching a magnificent, albeit slightly foggy, view.

Then back to the cars and the second round of the drive where the riders all choose a different LBC to experience. After 20 minutes or so we did another change of cars while putting on those jackets and sweaters we fortunately remembered to bring. If anyone had neglected to bring warm clothes it was time to pick an LBC with its top up!

The farthest stop in the drive took us almost to the highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It looked like it might rain at any moment so we headed back toward the Pisgah Inn were the group broke up and all headed out trying to beat the rain home.

The progressive drive was a delightful experience giving us the chance to ride in cars we never had before and to get to know other members of the club better. I hope we add the progressive drive to next year’s event calendar and if we do be sure not to miss it!
